Shifting

At some point between Friday evening and Sunday morning some of the boulders at this particular point of entry shifted. Unlike the shifting boulders at Death Valley and other playas around the world, there was human intent in this shift, and I wonder how long it will be before they shift again?  This was just the first of several "shifts" I noticed while riding the Cucamonga Canyon loop this a.m:

shifting boulders - who can see where the dirty deed was done?

during the week a lack of something caught my eye. i couldn't figure out what was missing from the eastward views until I realized that tall rock crushing tower thingie was gone from the quarries. what does it mean? are the quarries played out? are the operations shifting? what?

not long after i noticed red-tailed hawk gliding low along the face of the dam, looking for breakfast until, gracefully, her flight shifted upward in widening spirals bringing her back to where i watched, before alighting atop a power pole

entering the figgy forest; just inside it is vibrantly colorful right now some red [mimulus?] wildflower, and purple thistle -  even the ones i stomped down a couple weeks ago bloomed and are a mass of seeds now which does not bode well for avoiding their painful punctures next season

- you know i am getting. really annoyed. with all the. rogue periods that. my macbook pro wants to. put after, nearly, every word lately - as Linus would say, "Aaaaauuuuuuuggghhhhhhh. I know it is a thing for. a while. now. to emphasize your point. in such. a. way, but enough it enough! Anyway, back to it...

there is a lot of shifting dirt in the basin above the Cucamonga Canyon dam and, in case you were thinking of going that way, passage is not permitted on week days while grading is ongoing - weekends are okay.

heading down between the dam and the Pacific Electric Trail, you can pick your path - paved, or not, the choice is yours when you are riding a mountain bike, though, do you really need the option?

If the measure of a weekend can be determined by the quality of your rides, I would judge this one a success. Hope yours was too!
