Happy Independence Day, 2021 from La Verne!

With public safety guiding many decisions in the hometown, including the decision to not hold a 4th of July celebration again this year, we rode over to La Verne to join the crowd of parade watching neighbors in that little burg. Once there we shared curb space with a small group from San Dimas, a father and his three sons - it kind of emphasized the interconnectedness of all the little cities out here in this part of the county, you never have far to go to get to the next one over. When someone walked across the street carrying a tray little multi-colored Jello cups Tamera just had to have one - I asked her if she knew what was in there. Yup, she found out.

As we rode over to the parade route along Bonita, the pre-parade parade of motorcycles was already on the move - I tell ya, there was nothing small about that; i'd like to know how many there were, 'cause it seemed to go on without end. I'm pretty sure every state was represented with a flapping flag, along with an uncountable number of Old Glory's to boot. I was hoping they'd come back at the end of the parade, but nope.

I would say the parade was the typical small town affair, with the usual community organizations, classic and vintage cars, city leaders, the Little League champions, police, sheriff and fire fighting representatives, but there was also a lot more military stuff than we are used to seeing in Claremont's parade. Finally, along came the bicycle brigade, organized by Crazy Bear Bikes and including a couple of my favorite cyclists - Janette and Dagmar - Hey ladies!

Anyway, a very fun morning was had by all and looks set to continue through the long weekend.

Happy 4th y'all!
