PV and BC's Excellent Adventure

What starts with the purchase of two new tires, and ends with the purchase of two new beers, and in between involves hills (little tiny hills) and snakes? Why a Pomona Valley Bicycle Coalition-hosted community ride, of course.

So, yeah... a ride that starts at a bike shop and ends at a brewery - that is a good way to prise a little cash out of the wallet. Fortunately an annual Spring sale meant those tires were a fraction of their regular price, and the first taste of beer was free. The PVBC - Pomona Valley Bicycle Coalition held one of their occasional rides this afternoon, an easy spin from Incycle San Dimas, around Bonelli Park, and ending at the five-month old High Point Brewing Company in San Dimas. If the ride turned out to be double the distance it was promoted to be I didn't hear any complaints, everyone managing to cover the loop like old pros.

an excellent adventure

These short community-oriented rides don't have to be complicated things, they don't take all day, and they are a great way to introduce riders to sites and businesses they might not otherwise have been familiar with, create opportunities to meet others, and share the experience of pedaling around town. The PVBC, and the Ride Around Pomona have been holding rides like today's for quite some time, the La Verne Bicycle Coalition has joined the action, and I hope we'll see more.
