The Big Rivalry, and Watching the Riders Ride Past

I don't know that this day could have been made any more perfect for being outside. As such I searched for ways to prolong the morning ride, anything short of intentionally looking for ways to make my tires go flat would do. Things like gawking at the open views at the turn-around in Fontana, stopping at Lucky's for a coffee and pumpkin pop-tart (while watching riders in the Tour de Foothills roll back toward the finish), and taking in the pre-game sights and sounds as the Pomona / Pitzer Colleges Sagehens prepared to take on their cross-campus rivals, the Stags of Claremont / Mudd / Scripps Colleges (while watching riders in the Tour de Foothills roll along Sixth Street past Earl J. Merritt Field).

coffeeneuring 2022 - while I have had a cuppa at the Claremont Lucky's, this was the first time stopping at the Lucky's in Upland, where...

there is a terrific view of some red-tile roofed buildings and the mountains beyond from the outside tables

this is what the PET through Rancho Cucamonga looks like after a storm...

this is what the PET through Upland looks like after a storm! (expect to hear more about this on Monday - what an embarrassment - surely the city could do better?)

here come the Stags (and not a bad view of the mountains from here either)

while the Stags continued to warm up...

the Sagehens honored twenty-seven of their senior teammates - Congratulations!

A terrific morning all around - hope yours went just as well!
