Passed in Colorado: the End Hit and Run Loophole Bill...

Colorado, Iowa. I have never lived in either place, but both occupy a prominent niche in my psyche. Dad is a Denverite, or Denveronian or whatever term is preferred, and mom is from Iowa. Relatives still live in both places, so there is some real connection, not just emotional. I was pleased to read that Colorado Governor, John Hickenlooper, has signed the so-called "End Hit and Run Loophole" Bill which, at the end of May was passed by the state legislature. The bill provides for penalties in hit and run cases to be treated with the same severity as drunk driving penalties. Technically, the bill raises the seriousness of hit and run from a class 5 felony to a class 4. Obviously the bill won't help any victims, but it will hopefully help to keep a few more perpetrators off the roads. As a California native, I sure wish we could get our own governor to come through on the 3-foot law, which he last deemed necessary to veto. Get moving Governor Brown.
