It's the Weekend: This Land of Eldorado
Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.
But he grew old -
This knight so bold -
And o'er his heart a shadow
Fell, as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.
And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow -
'Shadow,' said he,
'Where can it be -
This land of Eldorado?'
'Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down in the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,'
The shade replied, -
'If you seek for Eldorado!
(Edgar Allan Poe)
The shadows have been growing longer this week, deepening the canyons that furrow the mountains, raising the ridges above them. The sunsets too have been deepening, falling away from the clouds that have speckled or streamed across the sky on most nights, tripping on the ridges and falling into the canyons where the shadows fall on them
as prey
devouring them in darkness.
It is the weekend again, and just in time. I see some music in the immediate future, some tennis and, oh yes, much riding too. It's the weekend - make it a good one!
If you're going to Friday Nights Live, earn extra point credits by riding there. I want to take some photos of bikes in the Village.
