Monday Blues: Blue Shorts

This is a portion of a recently rediscovered painting by Adrianne Prober (mother in law). In the murky past I posted other examples of her work; since she lived in the Venice Beach / Santa Monica area, her paintings and other art works often show people riding bikes along the oceanfront boardwalk. Such scenes are as iconic as anything. This 2x6 canvas was found rolled up rather than attached to wood stretchers. Most of her paintings are filled with people, crowds of people, as you might expect for a Venice Beach scene - this "series" however, is almost devoid of people, seeming to focus more on the architecture, but the lone bicyclist in this one is given the front and center place of honor.

The Monday Blues has been an occasional feature here at the blog since inception; the blues, an emotion, a color, a genre of music, with a cycling twist.
