Up the Road (and Trail): Bike Month Events

We are a week into Bike Month now, and if you have not found a ride that you have wanted to do, or been able to make time to do, fear not for there are plenty on tap.

First up is a little community ride in La Verne to explore some "hidden trails and bridges" in the city. This will be an easy, family-friendly ride, so don't expect much speed or distance. If you want those things ride, as I expect to do, in from some neighboring point or town:

Next up, the Pomona Valley Bike Coalition will once again be hosting a Bike to Work Day Pit Stop at the Claremont Depot (another nearby pit stop is being hosted by the University of La Verne at their campus). I have to admit that I have fallen behind on my bike to work commitments, and am hoping this day will get me back on track:

Metro Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, Pomona Valley Bike Coalition and Metro Bike are sponsoring / hosting an art ride around the city of Pomona. There have been some great Metro-sponsored rides in the past, and I expect this will be another - just watch those steel plate sidewalk vault covers:

The Mount Wildon Bicycling Association returns this year to Henninger Flats for their annual Pancake Breakfast and raffle. If anything will give you an appetite it is that climb to the Flats, and their raffle is one of the best:

Regrettably you may have to choose between dirt and pavement this year, because the next 626 Golden Streets takes place the same day as the MWBA ride and feast. Short as it is Mission to Mission will pack a lot of sights into its route from South Pasadena to San Gabriel Best of all it is easily accessible by bike or by Gold Line:

Lastly, but only because it is the event furthest out, is the third annual Paper Route Ride. The purpose of this local ride run out from the Competitive Edge in Upland, is to raise funds to help two of our local riders get to the Tokyo Para-Olympic Games. Post ride food by In-N-Out, and I guarantee, the company you'll ride with is hard to beat:
