Monday Blues: Mystery of the Blue Bicycle
I am never quite sure what to make of these bikes that find themselves left in out-of-the-way places, places you normally do not expect to see them parked. No one questions a bike parked in a rack - someone, you expect, rode it there, locked it up, and will be back at the end of a limited period of time to retrieve it. But then there are those such as this, and your mind takes a suspicious turn. Stolen? I have a suspicious mind anyway, and that thought crept in.
I could see from a distance that both tires were flat, but I needed a closer look. There was that crazy-angled saddle, a thin cable lock attaching it to the fence, and it looked like someone had tried to take the tube out of the front tire, but... whoops, it does not work like that. And so the tube was just left draped over the top tube. So, is it stolen, or like a car with engine failure and abandoned on the side of the road, was its rider unable to fix the problem and decided the best course of action was to leave it locked to the fence? A mystery unsolved.
