VICTORY: Speed Limit Increase Rejected...

You may have noted a recent reference to how I had skipped out part way through a Claremont City Council meeting two nights ago. At that meeting the hot-button topic was the state mandated speed limit increases on several streets within the city. By doing so, what I missed out on was a unanimous decision by the Council to REJECT the increases, and to direct city staff to look into traffic calming measures for the eleven-affected streets as a way to bring speeds down. Included amongst the suggested measures are the installation of bike lanes. Woo-hoo, sanity is restored, at least for the time being.

This information is as reported by Richard Mancuso at the Claremontonian.
