Cycling Claremont: the Green Gypsie...

The Cycling Claremont series of posts highlight some of the local businesses I have been known to frequent because I like what they offer, because they are bicycle friendly, or because they provide something unique or interesting, and which visitors to Claremont may also like.

I don't believe Crepes de Paris has opened quite yet, so I should be safe in saying that the Green Gypsie is the most recent business to open at the Packing House. The shop offers unique gifts, many using recycled, and/or sustainable, materials. Many vintage items are reconstituted with a new purpose, such as the rotary phones turned into ipod docks, something the shop calls up-cycled. I visited the shop weeks ago, soon after they opened, and immediately took notice of the various bicycle themed items on display. Votive candle holders made from chains, clocks using chainrings, clocks made from vinyl records with bicycle cutouts around the circumference, tea towels with bicycle prints, etc.

If you are looking for some unique gift, the Green Gypsie just might be worth a visit. And while you are paying, do check out the vintage, and mammoth-sized, cash register - it is quite impressive.
