Michaelandia, or the Shoe Tree Is...
no more a shoe tree. It is now just a sad-looking, drought-stunted shoeless tree. Judging by the markings in the dirt around it, i'm guessing the owners did not want a shoe tree Out There anymore. Bummer.
Well, checking on the shoe tree was not my reason for being out there tonight. I was more concerned with seeing is the signs proclaiming the area to be now known as Michaelandia had been installed. They had not. Nor had Google, parent company of this here blogger.com, got around to changing the name of the area on their maps. You'd think they would be a little more cooperative with someone who brings so much traffic to their door, or windows, or something. But no. I actually called them up this mid-morning and asked them, hey, what's up? I made an executive decision, notifying you googlie guys that the name of the wash, or the spreading grounds, or the Out There, or whatever name it might have had before, was now, and henceforward to be known, and only referred to as Michaelandia.
I thought it was kind of rude when they replied, "hey, we don't do that for just any sensically-addled idiot, you know. Only special idiots get that kind of attention. You know, the kind who take bribes and hand out favors, a corruptor, in other words." Corruptor, i said quizicaly. Appropriate, sure, but is that a real word? "Sure it is," said the Googleman, "and to prove it, you can even look it up on Google."
Oh well, i guess i should be happy that i'm not an especial idiot, i told the googlebotman, but look, an executive decree, is a binding order, so i expect to see the name change on your maps any day now. There was no answer and the line went to static.
i have become convinced that they start the weekend by letting water into the stream, then shut off the tap to start the week - another monday of confirmative evidence, only stagnant puddles today, where over the weekend there was flowing water
something has seemed wrong with the trio lately. more often than not, one has been off to the side, or even a little more distant. tonight, as last week, there were just the two
shoeless and sad
