Blonde Bike Queen...
was the caption for this photo that accompanied a story in the Los Angeles Times, 17 August 1941. The National Amateur Bicycle Championships came to the "Rose Bowl course" that year, and the Times ran a series of stories leading up to the two days of racing, as well as extensive coverage of the races. North Hollywood's very own Ruth Maxhimer was considered among the leading entrants in the competitions.
