Riding to Trousdale
A free outdoor concert, in the cool of a July evening? With ice cream? I'll ride for any one of those reasons, but for all three? Sign me up! Once again, Scripps College and Levitt on the Lawn, brought Trousdale to the campus' beautiful Bowling Green. It wasn't rock 'n roll, but the harmonies were off the chart; Simon and Garfunkel, but with a higher range. A Cappella Academy opened the show with a pair of songs, and then joined the Trousdale gals on a third. (A Cappella Academy has been in residence at Scripps for the first half of July and will close out the session with a concert this Sunday - if you are free, check it out, the voices of those young people are amazing too.) As for Trousdale, this was their second Levitt on the Lawn concert at Scripps, and I wasn't going to miss out this time. Fantastic stuff, artistry for the ears. I was content to just sit back and listen while watching the sky turn from orange, to blue, to black, the crescent moon appearing above the sycamore's, whose leaves swayed in time on a welcome breeze.
A big thanks to Scripps and Levitt on the Lawn. With the weekend so close to arrival, having these performances on a Thursday evening is almost like getting an extra day before the weekend actually starts.
