Where'd They All Come From

I don't know where they've all come from. It wasn't like this before. For the last two weeks in particular, they've been Out There in groups. Sometimes there are two, sometimes four; once there was even six or seven. Used to be, the evening loops were lonely endeavors, I'd ride an hour, hour-and-a-half and wouldn't see any at all. Now, though, something has changed. Four or five of the last evening rides, i've pulled over to let 'em pass on the the narrow trails. They've all been older dudes, sort of like myself and, without fail, they've all be on mountain bikes. Not a drop bar rig amongst them.

Is it some kind of mtb resurgence? While there are still plenty of young guns out there too, at other times, is the evening crowd a uniquely aging assemblage? Where did they used to ride, and why are they here now?

Eh, who knows, who cares, just ride

  1. What beautiful colorful countryside with your recent rain. I see a lot of evening riders on our paved trails but not on our local single track.
