By Bike: To the Waterwise Community Festival
When we got there, the orange cargo bike was the only one tied up to the rack, and though I had seen him getting around town on it before, I still didn't recognize it for whom it belonged to. But then Mike (Michael) K walked up, a couple plants in hand, and... oh, of course - it belongs to that long time Claremont cyclist.
So, while one cargo bike left (its rider had a job to get to), two individual bikes took its place tied up at the racks. By the time we had finished our tour of the Waterwise Community Festival at CalBG, and headed across the street to Wolfe's for some lunch, three more bikes had joined the party, one of which included a trail-a-bike style hook-up.
When we rode our bikes over there for some event last year, and one overly abrasive security[?] staff member racing around on his little golf cart turned me off from the place for a while, it has always been good to see bikes secured to the racks out front. If you didn't make it over for the festival, you can still ride over at any time just to check out the garden - so much is in bloom right now, the place is amazing. Just don't try taking your bike up the driveway to use the "staff only" bike rack up on the mesa - geez, that guy was and a**.
Beautiful! Those same columbines popped up in one of my garden beds this year. -k
