Only the Lonely

This is Tamera. Does she not look lonely holding down that section of seats by herself?

Oh sure, I go over there every once in a while to eat a half a sandwich, or few bites of what ever we've brought to eat, but then I have to head back down track side. Since races take place in pretty quick succession those times are pretty few - typically two, to be exact, between blocks of races (Juniors and Madison, or Madison and Category, for instance) when there is maybe twenty, thirty minutes of open track.

Tamera can only take so much of that lonely stuff before she needs to get up and go talk to someone at the front desk, or someone else holding down their own lonely section of seats.

That's not how it should be. It's Saturday night after all, there should be lots of folks around, filling those empty seats; the music is playing, thundersticks (which you pick up for free at the front desk) are booming against the backs of seats, the boards are rumbling as the race flashes past, the race announcer is keeping people informed and, most importantly, the action is fast, furious and even unpredictable, right in front of you.

The point is, you oughta come on out some night, and check it for yourself - it's free to watch, you can charge your EV while you watch and, as I never tire of saying, the racing action is good. Bring a dinner and set up for a few hours. There will be two more terrific weekends of racing before Christmas - next weekend will include the fourth and final round of the SoCal Madison Cup, and the weekend after that is the High Desert Nutrition Holiday Carnival. Both weekends will include full programs of racing, with the Carnival even including a Derny race. It all happens at the Velo Sports Center.

With a 90 year olds' outdoor birthday party to attend this afternoon it is going to be tight, but I still hope to have a recap and photos from the Saturday afternoon / evening races ready by Monday. Check back then, for more.
