From the Library: On Freedom Road

This one is an easy book to read through quite quickly, but it is probably best to take whatever time you need to fully digest it. While the title and subtitle provide a general drift of what the topic at hand is, they are a bit of a short sell too, as the book also touches upon the Trail of Tears, and the Blues Highway as well. I dig the premise, of following and exploring historic trails, seeking out the connections to the people who painfully and fearfully made their way along them in the past. Keep in mind, a relatively small part of this book specifically relates to time spent turning the cranks. Instead, the vast bulk is history oriented. But you know, considering the rampant and disgraceful, conservative whitewashing of history these days (and indeed attempt to rewrite it), that may not be a bad thing.
