No Card-Stock Witches

Remember when Halloween decorations consisted of a line of jack-o-lanterns lined up on the front porch, one for each kid in the family? Carved pumpkins that you would find out in the street the next day, if you forgot and left them out all night? I am not sure I do either, but the elaborate yard displays of today sure are a far cry from the card-stock witches, ghosts and pumpkins that would be taped to windows, walls and doors. It has become quite a racket, but all those house-high skeletons, tombstones, inflatables, and orange lights, sure give us cyclists something to look at on our evening rides.

Speaking of which, the annual Halloween ride to some of the biggest, best known displays is coming up quick.

admittedly, a horse with a horn might be scary in certain situations, but I'm not quite sure it qualifies as Halloween
