2019 Bike Swap and Show at the Cub House

It poured down for a while there, the rain. I was in Pasadena at the time and on my way to San Marino for the annual bike show and swap at the Cub House when the storm seemed to peak. While the downpour was relatively short, it continued to alternate between a spritz and a shower for the rest of the afternoon. But these were bicyclists, and even us Southern California variety are used to being out in all kinds of weather. It didn't seem like anyone was put off, that any of the sellers had packed up, the burgers and taco-like thingies were still sizzling on the grills, coffee was still brewing, people were still ogling the models, haggling at the swap and, (like myself) catching up with some people they, maybe, had not seen in a while, or others they had just seen the previous day.

Though I apparently missed it last year, this is one of those bike events that I begin to anticipate with high expectations as the end of year draws close. My tastes have moved away from the vintage focus of the show, but I can still appreciate the TLC that has gone into the care, maintenance and, sometimes, restoration of the bikes that are brought out to be shared with the crowd. Beside that, and all the other things already mentioned, there is the Cub House itself - a shop I never tire of visiting.
