Yanking Our Chain?

So... yeah... here we are. Still.

What reason is there to not paint all the lines at the same time? It is a valid question isn't it?

It has now been, what now, two, three, four months since Baseline Road through the city of La Verne was repaved? It has been, what, a month, or more [?] since the "other" lanes were marked?

And still no sign that the promised bike lanes are forthcoming.

Is this just another example of the city yanking our collective chain, politispeak in which promises are made with no intention of actually following through with them? The trail of broken promises is growing to leg-wearying length over there.

Maybe I am mis-remembering, but were not bike lanes a part of a plan? I could swear they were.

  1. One of the girls on the Damien/St. Lucy's Biking Team was riding out on her own and was hit by a car last month on the Baseline/Foothill intersection where there were no lines painted yet. Luckily she's recovering but having those lines may have saved her from some serious pain, concussion recovery, ambulance and hospital expenses.

  2. The accident from Saturdays TDF was on Baseline road in La Verne as well

  3. Saw the video later in the day, but had completely forgotten about the St. Lucy's rider. Since a bike lane is more visual reinforcement than anything, I don't believe it would have made a difference to the TdF rider. If a driver turns in front of you when you are that close, not much you can do.
