Monday Blues: Just Coffee!
I don't usually go into the Village for just coffee, but this time i did. The mrs. had ridden down to drop something off at a friends, so i thought to sneak down after her and say, surprise! Anyway, long story, shorter, i didn't want a plain old coffee, so i looked over the menu for some flavored drink and decided on an "ecstatic," with a taste of butterscotch, dark chocolate and citrus. I was sitting outside under some umbrella when the drinks came out, which was good 'cause there were still a couple drops falling out of the sky. My brows furrowed after the first sip. The furrow got a little deeper after the second sip, while after the third sip i couldn't help but say, this is just coffee. I thought maybe the flavor had simply settled to the bottom, and that a good stir might bring them to the top, but no - still just coffee. The mrs., who wasn't having any greater success with her drink, went back in and asked what was up. Here's the first kicker - the baristas said that if we add milk and sugar, that would bring the flavor out. No, i said, that will make it taste like coffee with milk and sugar mixed in, not coffee with butterscotch, dark chocolate and citrus! I told the mrs., only half jokingly, that they must have seen someone they could play a joke on, just hand us a plain old cup of coffee, thinking we wouldn't be able to tell the difference. But then kicker #2 - a trio of younger types, students from the colleges showed up, and when one of them brought his drink out, what did he say but, "this is just coffee!"
Hmm, something going on there, fortunately there are plenty of other coffee joints to choose from in the Village,
normally i would do one of those tree posts for this big ol' oak, but the number on the tag seems to have been scratched off, or otherwise obscured. as you can see in the photo, the diameter of this one is just about as big as my bike is long - where is this giant? The Bridges Hall of Music (aka Little Bridges) is in the background
