Monday Blues: Permanently Closed

 By word of mouth you may have heard by now or, perhaps, you've seen the sign in the window, that Jax Claremont (along with, potentially, all but one of the other Jax shops) has permanently closed. I would like to be able to say that i am really bummed about this news, the sad truth though is that Jax Claremont just was not the shop that i would have liked it to be, especially after Jonathan left about ten years ago. The shops' support of the hight school mountain bike team was a big positive, but the "bike shop experience," was severely lacking, and there were other business decisions that were not going to help them develop a loyal customer base.

The worst thing about the situation is the disappearance of another local retail option. While my visits the shop were rare, and purchases even more so, i know there were other riders who appreciated the shops' hyper-locality. I am not going to try and guess what brought about the closure, but like you i have my suspicions; i will suggest there may have been a number of contributing causes, and leave it at that. Whatever the case, the end is the same - no more Jax in Claremont.
