It's the Weekend
Despite the best efforts of sinister characters to darken it with shady schemes, the wider world is alive with color right now. Oblivious to the whims of weak minded men seeking power through destructive machinations, butterflies carry on. If you want to see some, butterflies i mean, you could head to some butterfly pavilion, but you could also get out on foot or bike. Bonelli Park is crazy with them right now - there is a crush of Cabbage White butterflies, but i also spotted some Sara Orangetip butterflies spiraling in tandem pairs between shade and hot sun. There was maybe a Monarch or two (if not, then some imitator species), some little bluish ones, a Mourning Cloak, and i am sure if you were really attempting to look, you would see even more. A few times i had one get captured in that eddy of air between my chest and outstretched arms as i rode along a dirt road or trail, just long enough to be amazed. You gotta have fast eyes though (and a faster itchy shutter finger) because they do not dawdle, nor sit still for long.
It is the weekend - get out and enjoy!
"Flutter by,
Butterfly,
Floating flower
in the sky.
Kiss me with your
Petal wings -
Whisper secrets
Tell of spring."
(unknown)
my best attempt at photographing a Sara Orangetip - the sun was way too bright in the brief second or two that it was resting, but you might be able to see the orange at its wing tips
