Slow Sunday, Earth Day, Scenes

The spotlight does seem to have diminished of late. Even so, when Earth day comes around, it still is compelling enough to encourage getting around by means of non-hulking motorized vehicle. Well... for some people, it still does. The morning that Earth Day coincides with the farmers' market is anything but slow in the Village. The various organizations arrive and set up around the oval in little Shelton Park - Sustainable Claremont, Tri-Cities, Active SGV, Clean Power Alliance, the Foothill Gold Line, Claremont Streets for People, Claremont Wildlands Conservancy, the Citizens Climate Lobby, Friends of the Wilderness Park, and the Claremont Community Services Department were all there explaining their missions, answering questions, advocating each for their respective cause; kids created earthy masterpieces at the art tables or simply ran around and spun cartwheels on the lawn and, not that the season doesn't have something to do with it, but the Mother Earth did appear to respond to the attention, decking out in her finest flowing green, and bejeweled more colorfully than even the most expensive gemstone.

i think i saw at least one person leave the grounds with one of Active SGV's bike share e-bikes, while plenty of other folks were curious to find out what the program was all about

  1. That one singer looks awfully familiar 😉. And what a beautifully designed park!

    1. I must be lucky then, since they both look familiar to me.
