Solar Angels

It was 1981 and Judas Priest had release the Point of Entry album, it was the first of theirs that I bought, and it hooked me right away. Who knows how many nights I drove home from the graveyard shift at Carl's Jr, sharing tunes from the album with anyone I happened to pass by, or the night air if no one was around - it was midnight, after all. The next year it was Screaming for Vengeance, and then for sure I had to go back and get the older ones -  British Steel, Hell Bent for Leather, Stained Class, Sin After Sin.

I've probably referenced every song from Point of Entry here by now, haven't I? Well, maybe not.

Anyway, Point of Entry. Yeah, there is this trail Out There with two points of entry. These days most riders, maybe all riders, exit one trail segment, go straight across the road and enter the next trail segment. Not me though, I exit the one, make a hard right on the road and then, after a few feet ease left into the other point of entry. The thing is, I may be the only guy using it now, and week by week the way is becoming increasingly blocked by a thick growth of sage I have to bust my way through every time. Since the way has been abandoned by everyone but me, I guess the job of keeping it open has fallen in my lap.

somewhere lost in the sage and the solar angels, there is the entrance to a trail

"Golden halos radiating higher
Diamond visions softly breathing fire
Sky processions, we are watching you arrive..."
(Tipton, Downing & Halford)

  1. Looks like a beautiful trail. And how peaceful to be the only one on it!
