T'was a Dark and Stormy Night...

another ghostly rider passes by

Well, what an unusual, dramatic, and mildly wild ride last night. If you looked one direction there was a vivid sunset, turn a 180º and the sky was all doom and gloom. The latter won the short term battle, and by the time we rolled out the first drops came down; a half mile later everything and everyone was wet. Big, heavy drops of rain, coated the streets, made rooster-tails of spray from twenty pairs of wheels. There were a few grumbles about turning back, none too serious, and no one followed through with the threat. Good thing - by the time we reached the edge of town all was dry once again. One of those quick late-summer storms, common to the desert, which apparently got lost and found itself on our side of the mountains. Thunder and lighting flashed and boomed in the distance the rest of the ride, but the rain had called it quits after that one little squall. Good thing; that meant the pace could, once again, be pushed. Erik's Monday Night Ride leaves from the Von's/Euro Cafe at 7:00 each week.

stopped at a light - most of the others pulled up short, under that one little tree.
