Meanwhile in Spain, Striking Against the Leader...

If you want to win the Vuelta a Espana, you've got to challenge the man in the Red Jersey. That is exactly what the 2nd placed (Chris Horner) and 3rd placed (Alejandro Valverde) did during today's mountain stage which finished atop the Aramon Formigal. If at first you don't succeed, try again proved a worthy strategy as Horner reclaimed 22 seconds, and Valverde 25 seconds of their deficit to race leader, Vincenzo Nibali. Until the final few kilometers of the stage, Nibali looked untouchable, being fully supported by his Astana team. When an attack by Horner eliminated the last of that support within the final five kilometers, Nibali found himself isolated and vulnerable. With 3k to go Horner and Valverde, along with Thibaut Pinot, surged again, a move for which Nibali had no response. The man currently wearing Red now has a lead of 28 seconds on Horner, and 1:14 on Valverde. You know there will be more attacking before this thing is a wrap - Nibali still has the advantage, will he have it at the end?
