To the Gold Star Families Memorial

The Hershel 'Woody' Williams Foundation has helped install 157 Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments in all fifty states and one territory since its inception. One week ago the most recent monument, "inspired by the family of Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dylan R. Merola," was dedicated during a ceremony at Central Park in Rancho Cucamonga.

Riding out to the memorial was the main goal of today's ride. I didn't have anything to do with this particular project, but it was another one completed by Architerra Design Group. Having finally ditched that May gray it turned out to be a perfect day (albeit with one flat along the way) for a simple spin. Other folks prefered something a little more involved, such as the woman we caught up to along the PET, who had ridden from home in Upland to the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, locked her bike there, hike up Potato Mountain, and was on her way back home. And all by before noon - that's kickin' it!

a bike, a hike, another bike, and still going strong

i thought it was too early to start getting flats along the PET

the Village Eatery makes a refreshing lemonade...

and i could enjoy it...
