2019 Dare to Race / Ray "Doc" Hess Memorial Criterium

The backs of your legs got sunburned, she noticed as we walked over to the brewery late in the afternoon. I knew she had me, would not have pointed it out if it were not true, but unwilling to admit she was right I replied that, "no they are not; my legs don't get sunburnt." Well... the point of that is to make note, not of some flaw in character, but of the type of day it was; this third race day of the 2019 southern California road race calendar, was a particularly non-winter-like Winter day.

Racers gathered this Sunday morning, and into the afternoon, for the first race of the Ontario Series, the Dare to Race / Ray "Doc" Hess Memorial Criterium. It also marked the start of the twenty-first season for the Series under the care and direction of Ray and Irma, and the familia Moreno. And a terrific start it was; the action was continuous, attacks were plentiful, teamwork and strategy were well in evidence, yet there were still opportunities for the lone gunmen in the bunch to make their mark. With a start like this one, the season will be a good one.

With room to spare, Andrew Stallings (Go Fast) takes the win in the Men's Cat 3 race.
