Fast Digs: When the Racers Left Town


As the 1900-1901 racing season drew to a close at the Los Angeles Velodrome, the professionals along with many of the nations top amateurs began to leave town. Most were headed for San Jose and that city's newly constructed track. It was significant enough to have been chronicled as a cartoon noting the week's sporting events, center stage, right there between Big Jim Jeffries and the arrival of the Los Angeles baseball team at the start of their season.
