An Oddity
That right there is a Lescoq "Marvel Speed MTB," as spotted locked up on the campus of USC. I have no idea if this is a custom, or a single knock-off, or what; a search of the terms "Lescoq" and "Marvel Speed MTB" shows a single link, toeBay, with a photo that may be this very bike. With that flared-back top tube / fender, whoever designed it must have had a lot of mud, or rain, riding in mind. Wish I had taken some better photos because it looks as if the seat stays are free floating where they "join" the seat tube / spring shock. Well, it is certainly unique.
Have you discovered any more information about this bike, or its purpose for the rear flare?
ReplyDeleteNo, but now that you mention it I wonder where it is now.
DeleteI just picked one of these up.
ReplyDeleteI have one and I live by USC. I wonder it’s the same exact one. It sure seems to be. A buddy of mine left it at my home. He told me he was the last one getting off of a metro bus which was heading to the bus yard. The driver asked him if he wanted to take the bike. Apparently someone else left it on the bus rack.
