An Oddity

That right there is a Lescoq "Marvel Speed MTB," as spotted locked up on the campus of USC. I have no idea if this is a custom, or a single knock-off, or what; a search of the terms "Lescoq" and "Marvel Speed MTB" shows a single link, toeBay, with a photo that may be this very bike. With that flared-back top tube / fender, whoever designed it must have had a lot of mud, or rain, riding in mind. Wish I had taken some better photos because it looks as if the seat stays are free floating where they "join" the seat tube / spring shock. Well, it is certainly unique.

  1. Have you discovered any more information about this bike, or its purpose for the rear flare?

    1. No, but now that you mention it I wonder where it is now.

  3. I have one and I live by USC. I wonder it’s the same exact one. It sure seems to be. A buddy of mine left it at my home. He told me he was the last one getting off of a metro bus which was heading to the bus yard. The driver asked him if he wanted to take the bike. Apparently someone else left it on the bus rack.
