San Dimas Time

Just a reminder, riders from around the country (and usually some from outside it as well) will be rolling through some of our favorite local stomping grounds for three days beginning on Friday. It is time for the annual San Dimas Stage Race (SDSR), celebrating its eighteenth year. The action is always good, and I do not expect it to be any less so this year. A little rain has made its way into the weekend weather forecast; hopefully it will remain just a "little" and not turn into the deluge of a few years ago. We would all appreciate the only fury to be one of spinning wheels and grinding legs, not of falling rain and blowing wind.

As usual, Friday kicks off with an individual time trial up Glendora Mountain Road. Saturday will find the peloton assembled to tackle a rolling course in, and around, Bonelli Park. The grand finale on Sunday is the always fast circuit in the area around old town San Dimas.

One more reminder, if you will be at either the Saturday, or the Sunday races all day, as I expect to be, you will get hungry and thirsty. Two local establishments that have proven themselves to be very bike-friendly will be serving up thirst-quenching and hunger-satisfying fare. The La Verne Brewing Company is just around the corner from Saturday's start / finish, and will have both food and music, as well as their cyclist favorite brews. Another La Verne business, Pappas Artisanal will be cooking up their unique grub for racers and fans on both Saturday and Sunday at a pop-up in the start / finish area.

To set the mood, here are some favorite images from the past few years:
