Upcoming: 2013 San Dimas Stage Race...

The Amgen Tour of California may not be making a local stop this year, but that does not mean you need to make a long trip out of the region to watch some high-class racing action. It is almost time for the 2013 San Dimas Stage Race.

Last years women's race alone saw such champions as Kristin Armstrong and Clara Hughes (yellow and green jerseys above), Ina Teutenberg, Anne Samplonius, and Pascale Schnider among the list of favorites, battling over the three days / three stages of racing. This is the 14th year for the homegrown race hosted by the local SC Velo Cycling Club. Whether you can watch the action for one day, or all three, the support provided simply by cheering from the side of the road is much appreciated. The excitement builds as the laps count down on Sunday's third stage, in downtown San Dimas. When the bell rings signifying the final lap you won't want to be anywhere other than the finishing straight, as both the stage victor, and the overall race champion, are decided in a frenetic sprint finish.
