Alex Patrick Silva, Rest in Peace...
I was out of town yesterday so did not hear of this until this morning when I opened up the computer. That was shock enough, but a death always hits a little closer when it happens on a road we may frequent, and find ourselves riding along the next day, week or month. How many of us who climb, or descend GMR don't give a moments thought of Kevin Unck when we reach a certain turn in the road. Now a section of Wilson Avenue, in Rancho Cucamonga, will carry the same weight, bearing the memory of Alex Silva for all who knew him.
There appear to be many feeling his loss this weekend.
My condolences to the family and friends of Alex Patrick Silva.
Update: As reported in news media, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has made an arrest. Working with information they had received since the hit and run, officers served a search warrant against suspect Mark Sanders who, coincidentally was turning himself in at the same time. How typical - wait and hope to get away with it, and then give up when law enforcement closes in. How very commendable, I write with dripping sarcasm. A vehicle matching the description and with damage in keeping with the nature of the assault was found at the suspects home.
