The Ride of Silence, 2020
Any other year, on this night, bicyclists around the world would have gathered for the Ride of Silence, the annual memorial for our fellow cyclists who have been injured or have lost their lives to traffic violence over the past twelve months. But then 2020, not even half way in, has not been like any other year. There would be no local gathering, but that did not mean I could not ride on my own. It was easy maintaining silence, as well as the traditional slow, steady pace; the only conversing was myself to myself, and as soon as I realized what was going on, I shut that stuff down.
Twenty riders have lost their lives in the Southern California region thus far this year. In their memory I rode.
