The Running Man

Consider this a kind of update to yesterday's post. They may not have gone all the way to the top, but the status of the Ventoux was clearly not diminished in any way. It is not every year we get to see the Yellow Jersey running up the road. A crash, a bike failure, no support in sight, what else are you going to do? Certainly not sit and wait, or mope about. The last time we saw anything like this may have been 1984 at the World Championships when Claude Criquielion walked the finish, while dragging his bike behind him. I say, after today, his detractors can go to heck. For all his perseverance, determination, unorthodoxy, never-say-die attitude, Chris Froome has a new supporter.
