2015 SC Velo / Incycle Toy Drive
Growing up I lived a comfortable middle-class, middle of the Valley existence. Dad was an aerospace engineer and so, when the Christmas season came around us kids were fortunate to receive what we asked for. Within reason. These days, as it was back then too, there are kids, through no fault of their own, not as fortunate. Their Christmas lists are short, maybe even non-existent.
It is the season of giving, and among the myriad ways of doing just that is the SC Velo / Incycle Toy Drive, going on now. Between now and December 19th you can drop off toys at the San Dimas Incycle shop; deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff station in San Dimas will distribute the toys to children in families of need. Better yet, if you find yourself available on Sunday, December 20th, an easy, slow-paced Toy Ride will depart from Incycle at about 9:00am to deliver the collected toys to the Sheriff's station in San Dimas. This is an annual event of SC Velo and Incycle and over the years has, no doubt, brought some much needed holiday joy to local families. So, when you are out and about making your rounds this year (or maybe doing it online) pick up an extra one, or two, gifts and I will see you on the ride.
