San Diego's very first motor free Sunday will be taking place in one week. For route and other pertinent information check the event website. Like CicLAvia in Los Angeles, the San Diego event will allow cyclists, walkers, and others to experience parts of the city from a more sedate, motor-free perspective.

Incidentally, I received an email about a new Ghost Bike being installed in time for this event. The memorial will remember the life of Justin Newman who was killed in 2011. Mr. Newman lost his life when a negligent driver opened a car door into his path of travel as he rode along University Avenue. Watch for the display in memory of a fellow cyclist.
