Friday Feedbag and Quotable Links...

Whaaaat - Friday, already. With that Monday holiday I have been ahead of myself all week. Just consider this as getting a jump on TGIF:

1. You know, Biking In LA is one of those must read sites for me; I immediately go there when something new is posted. I kind of take it for granted that everyone else already does the same, and I don't give enough Quotable Links credit to Ted Rogers when he does commentary, just assuming that everyone will read his words soon enough anyway. After all Ted's commentaries are well thought out and include plenty of links to back up his reasoning. If you have not read the one from Tuesday, in which he takes on (yet again) the tired arguments including bikes don't belong, cyclists don't pay their share, etc, it is well worth reading and thinking about:

"Yet somehow, a number on a cyclist’s ass is supposed to allow police to ticket or even arrest him or her based on eyewitness reports?"

2. Now, how about one from ye olde alma mater:

"The accessibility at Kerr Hall is problematic, if not dangerous; you always see bikes thrown around," Khuu said.

Bike parking at UCSB was a pretty haphazard jumble when I was there as well, but a new $124,000 project, which will include new parking, stand-alone air pumps placed around campus, and landscape and entry enhancements, will help to alleviate some of the bike parking chaos.

3. And speaking of college/university campuses, the top three (and 4 of the top 10) most bicycle friendly campuses in the United States are in California, per the League of American Bicyclists. Way to go Stanford, UC Davis, and of course, UC Santa Barbara (and Cal State Long Beach at #5). Universities leading and showing everyone else the way to get it done.
