Flying Wedge
More than a week ago while heading in to work one morning, i watched a wedge of geese part the grey of the sky as they rose from an evening resting place at Guasti. Their leader was taking them in a northerly direction, but i was guessing they would veer away soon enough; in general, i don't think north from southern California is the direction geese want to go this time of the year. As cool as it is to watch those 'V' patterns flying by, i was actually more interested in the grey sky, not exactly typical for a late September morning. Little did i know that would be a preview of the next weeks' worth of mornings, a streak that went unbroken until today.
Other people, in other places sometimes get to have Fall, or Autumn if you prefer, weather at the end of September. It was nice to have a little taste of it here, as temporary as it might have been.
Though others had a completely different experience Out There on Sunday morning, my ride was very quiet, crossing paths with just a single dog-walker. It seemed a good opportunity to push-a-bike my way down a portion of the wash i had not yet explored. Though I did find a place where a good number of deer seem to bed down for the night, that little bit of exploration too was quiet.
