Dragging the Roads
They are dragging the roads again. I hate when they do that. It was worse, of course, in the past when all we had Out There were the roads. Nowadays you can run down the long string of knotted trails, mostly bypassing the roads that have been dragged. It is not possible to ride down such roads with the same speed you might otherwise do and, if you're like me, your passage from top to bottom might be considerably slower. Not that there aren't certain advantage to that; for instance, this week i was able to ride up on a covey of quail. Unfortunately they scattered while i was digging out the camera - all but one that is, the lookout making sure all was clear, or not. The worse thing about those roads, though, i have a theory that all that dragging, the turning over of the soil brings, from below, all kind of thorns up to the surface; invariably, flats seem more prevalent when they drag the roads. And that is what happened earlier this week when i started feeling that squish toward the end of one ride. I quickly blamed the guy driving the tractor, but when i got around to opening up the tire a couple nights afterward, it was bone dry, not a single drop of sealant to be seen, wiped up, or even spilled onto the garage floor. No wonder the thing went flat.
