The loons! The loons!

Does it look peaceful? It was peaceful. It is often like that during the winter, not as many folks around - more loons than people (I have always considered them loons without really knowing if that is what they are). They hang out in the trees at the tail end of winter days, congregating, stretching, soaking in the final warm rays of sun before it slips down behind the hills, over the horizon. "Come here Norman. Hurry up. The Loons! The Loons! They're welcoming us back." Summer may have been good for the loons on Golden Pond, but during the winter they seem to favor southern California's more mild weather. Look for them along the lakeshore, especially sailboat cove in the evening light.
