Monday Blues: A Thin Blue Line

This is the Sonya Angelica Diehn mural at Pitzer College, and dating to 1998.

One of my favorite murals at the Colleges - first for the scene, the starkness of the desert landscape, the shadows of the desert mountains, the anthropomorphic forms marching through the valley, the striated sky mimicking and merging with the horizontal bands of the architecture, and finally, the way the mural is recessed back into an alcove giving it a three-dimensional aspect heightened by the arid plantings of the foreground landscape.

With so many murals to see, you should ride on through the campuses now.
