RAPing 'Round the Restaurants

Restaurants come and restaurants go. It is a fact of the business of food. The restaurants that the Ride Around Pomona visited on Saturday morning fell into the "once were" category. Some went out of business (Mission Family Restaurant), some changed from their original incarnation (McDonalds to a donut shop, Jack-in the Box into a donut shop, Taco Bell into Senor Baja), one was something else before becoming a restaurant... and then going out of business  (a fire station into the Firehouse Inn into who knows what the current rehab will create). Some were places that the RAP visited during an "architecture" themed ride some time ago, while others were visited for the first time. As usual Marcus, as ride leader, had done his research and shared a bit of information at each stop along the route. A pretty nice turnout for the August RAP; even the Mayor - Tim Sandoval - came by, to say hello and shake a few hands, following some community clean-up - pretty cool, by the way, a Mayor not afraid to get involved with hands-on community work, rather than simply preaching from the bully pulpit, or showing up for the photo-op and then leaving before the work begins.

treated to some bmx acrobatics before the ride
