The Bud's Ride: Wednesday Worlds

Ah, the warm weather creaks, they have infected both the road bike and the mountain bike but, for what ever reason, the Ibis seems to have an immunity. It is an annual occurrence; as soon as the temperatures begin to climb the creaks begin (the fact that today's rise was accompanied by some extra humidity, I am sure, did not help). Since the road bike is a much less complex machine than the mtb, its creaking is limited to the bottom bracket (bb), although sometimes since it is directly down tube, it sounds like the infection has spread to the seat post. It became so annoying tonight that I purposely mashed the pedals to exacerbate things and "teach that bike a lesson." Of course a simple creaking bb was nothing like Two Wheel Tuesday last night when every part of the mtb that could creak, did creak - every pivot, both pedals, the bb, seat post, even the shifters; heck, even one of the camelback straps got in on the noisome bother.

One thing that did not creak tonight was the recipient of the weekly Bud's Ride crown; it may not have been the biggest gap in Bud's history, but there was enough confidence in it that our victor could strike a "hang loose" pose. Shaka! This Bud's for You.
