Cycling Claremont: The Old School House Bas Reliefs

Since I started this some months ago, I figured I should find a way to finish it. Those bas reliefs that were discovered, uncovered, recovered during restoration at the Old School House, are now clearly in view. There are four of them, though the two bookending the others, are the same. In keeping with their location, the "education" theme is evident. The Old School House, Claremont's original high school, opened in 1911 and was rebuilt in the 1930s which, considering the style of the sculptures is likely the period to which they date. If you are riding down Indian Hill, or along Foothill, stop and check them out and, while you're there, maybe stop for a burrito at Elvira's, now open for your culinary pleasure.
